MIT Engineers developed an insect-sized, jumping robot that can traverse difficult terrains using far less energy than a similar-sized aerial robot. This tiny, hopping robotic can leap over obstacles and jump across slanted surfaces or uneven surfaces, carrying about 10x more payload than an aerial robot of similar size.

CubiX, a wire-driven robotic system, connects with the environment via wires. Drones are used to establish connections. It can perform tasks that are beyond its physical limitations by integrating with robots and various tools.

Thanks, Shintaro!

This is a game that many of us played when we were children, and maybe even in later life: unwinding measuring tapes to see how long they would stretch before bending. This game was a source of inspiration for engineers at the University of California San Diego. They thought that measuring tape would make a great material to use in robotic grippers.

I really enjoyed the Murderbot series of books and the trailer for the television show looks good.

It is more difficult and more important than you think for service robots to be able operate an elevator that has not been modified.

There is a lot buzz about impressive robotics demonstrations, but taking Physical AI beyond the demo and into real-world deployment requires serious engineering muscle. The effort required to get to scale and work out the edge cases is 500 times greater than the initial demo. See how we built this for the singulation-induction Physical AI solution, trusted by some the world’s largest parcel carriers. Here’s to teams who are also committed to reliability and scale.

The video below shows a shortened version Issey’s Fly With Me runway from the 2025 Paris Men’s Fashion Week. My collaborators brought two industrial robots alive to be the focal point of the minimalist scenography created for the Japanese brand.

The ABB IRB robots each held a square of fabric measuring two meters and moved in synchronized motions to match emotional timings of the runway show. I developed custom live coding software in just three weeks and spent three days on site to allow industrial robots more improvisational workflows. This level of real-time, reliable control gave the Issey Miyake show team the flexibility they needed to make last-minute creative choices for the show.

There are many videos of humanoid robots that are heavily produced by the companies who sell them. But now that these platforms have entered the research space, it is time to get a better sense of their capabilities.

The future of sci-fi is dominated by robots. But what if the future was now? What if the robots that help us at home and at work are just an extension of tools we have used for millions of year? Catie Cuan, an artist and engineer, believes that robots can dance. In this episode, we meet people who are at the forefront of the future of robots. Astro Teller also introduces two groundbreaking robotics projects, Everyday Robots, and Intrinsic. These projects have advanced the way robots can work with us, not just for them.
