According to a new research from QNX, over three quarters (77%) global tech leaders believe in robotics as a means of performing essential workplace functions. The report predicts that one-fifth (or a fifth of the workforce) could be automated by robotics in the next decade. 71% of organizations are already using robotics or plan to adopt it soon.
The global robotics market will grow to $163.9 Billion by the end this decade. This is up from $51 Billion in 2024.

According to the report, managers cite safety and risk mitigation, reliability and performance and automation as key drivers for trust in robotics. Automation is the most common use-case (50%), followed by production (46%), assistance (36%) and high-risk tasks (28%) QNX revealed that executives have varying levels comfort with robots.
While managers are willing to introduce automation in assembly (77%), logistics/delivery (70%), and material handling (73%) areas, they are less comfortable with robotics when it comes to medical procedures (51%), customers service (55%) or maintenance (63%).
In addition, one third (32%) of managers say that their workplaces aren’t prepared for robotics. 29% have already experienced a robotics related safety incident. Three out of five (58%) expressed concerns about security.

“Trust is fragile and can easily be broken if robotics are built and deployed without the necessary foundational software to make them performant, safe, secure and reliable,” .
Despite the hesitation, there is a clear appetite for more robotics adoption. 90% cite advancements in technology, and 86% cite improved safety as driving factors.
With artificial intelligence already teaching us valuable lessons about integrating new technologies with people, 92% of respondents believe that employees should be involved in discussions around robotics integration.
