Channel Robotics Secures $4.6 Million to Revolutionize Endoscopic Procedures with AI-Powered Handheld Robotics

True Ventures Leads $2.5 Million Seed+ Round to Propel Innovative Medical Technology

San Diego-based Channel Robotics, a pioneering medical technology firm, has successfully closed a $2.5 million Seed+ funding round led by True Ventures, a prominent early-stage venture capital firm renowned for supporting groundbreaking tech startups. This latest investment brings Channel Robotics’ total funding to $4.6 million, fueling ongoing product innovation, regulatory progress, and commercialization efforts.

Strategic Investment Partners Bolster Growth and Clinical Adoption

The Seed+ round follows an earlier $2.1 million Seed financing, which included contributions from Defined VC and Old Line Capital Partners. These investors bring a wealth of expertise in healthcare innovation and company scaling, providing Channel Robotics with both capital and strategic guidance to accelerate the adoption of its technology in clinical settings.

Introducing a New Era in Endoscopic Robotics

Channel Robotics is developing a patented, handheld robotic platform enhanced with artificial intelligence, designed to deliver robotic-level precision and dexterity through existing flexible endoscopes. Unlike bulky, expensive robotic systems, this compact device aims to democratize access to advanced endoscopic procedures, making them feasible in hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers, and community clinics alike.

“Our goal is to make sophisticated endoscopic robotics accessible to a wider range of healthcare providers,” said Dr. Michael Yip, co-founder of Channel Robotics. “This funding enables us to refine a platform that is practical, scalable, and cost-effective for everyday clinical use.”

Funding to Accelerate Key Development and Regulatory Milestones

The capital infusion will support several critical initiatives, including:

  • Enhancing and validating the prototype robotic platform
  • Expanding engineering and product development teams
  • Preparing for FDA regulatory submission targeted for 2027
  • Advancing manufacturing capabilities and quality assurance systems
  • Strategizing for commercial launch post regulatory approval

Expertise and Vision Drive Innovation

Rohit Sharma, Partner at True Ventures, emphasized the unique blend of clinical insight and robotics expertise brought by Channel Robotics’ founders. “Mike and Philip combine deep medical knowledge with robotics innovation to create solutions that address significant challenges in healthcare robotics. We are excited to support their mission to improve patient outcomes.”

Philip Weissbrod, MD, co-founder and CEO, added, “With the backing of True Ventures and our existing investors, we are poised to accelerate development and deliver technology that is more accessible and easier to integrate than traditional robotic systems, ultimately benefiting more patients.”
