Chinese university launches English journal about robotics

HARBIN (April 15) (Xinhua). — China’s Harbin Institute of Technology, and the international publisher Wiley launched a joint English-language journal ( “SmartBot,” ) dedicated to advancing robotics. SmartBot, an open-access multidisciplinary journal, explores the convergence between robotics and other disciplines. It covers a broad range of topics including robot manufacturing and humanoid robotics. The editorial board consists of 49 scholars from 20 different countries and regions. Bradley Nelson, a Swiss Academy of Engineering Sciences member, is the editor-in chief. In the first editorial, he said that the journal was “committed to bridging the gap between technological breakthroughs and real-world applications.”

The Chinese university reported that the journal’s online first issue was published in late March. One editorial and five articles were contributed by authors from China.

Harbin Institute of Technology, founded in 1920, is a leading Chinese university that has a strong focus on space science, robotics, and engineering. #
