Image source. The docking station is taller and a little bit thinner than others. It has separate tanks for dirty and clean water and a dustbin where the vacuum can be emptied when it is done with a task or as required during larger jobs. It has all the hardware necessary to heat-dry a mop after use. It is easy to remove the dust bin and water tanks as needed. Ecovacs recommends that you leave more space between your dock and any obstructions beside it. I did not follow this advice and the vacuum docked easily.
The vacuum is also similar to other robotic vacuums in terms of design, though itas a little sleeker due to new technologies. The vacuum does not have a LiDAR node on top, but it still has a LiDAR for better mapping. This allows it to fit better under furniture.”is-wp-image-block wp-block-image size-full”>
Ecovacs X8 Pro Omni Review: App and Smart FeaturesI like the overall design of Ecovacs’ app, but its mapping leaves a lot to be desired. The X8 Pro Omni creates a map after you set it up. While it was not bad at identifying different rooms, the map created an extra space outside the home where it never went when it was mapping. The map-editing features aren’t bad, but can be a bit buggy and finicky. It took me a while to edit the app so that it was more accurate. You can also have it vacuum first, and then mop. Or you can make it do two cleans to get a deeper clean. It was easy to find and adjust settings for things such as voice control, dock settings, schedules, etc.
The Ecovacs X8 Pro is one of the earliest Matter-compatible robot vacuums. HomeKit said that the vacuum was incompatible, despite the fact that I am running iOS 18.4 and use the Apple Home ecosystem. This will hopefully change with an update to the vacuum or iPhone software. It’s possible that I just needed to connect them a fourth or five time, even though I had to leave for a flight. I will update this review after I return home.”bgr-ad-inline-article-standard-display-x”>
When the vacuum is added, its functionality is limited to selecting rooms and cleaning mode. You won’t be able edit the map or make more complex settings. It does the job, and my wife can use the vacuum more easily without having to download a complicated app. I am perfectly happy to be the one who sets up and tweaks advanced settings when needed. The battery life of the vacuum was excellent. The day I set up the X8 Pro Omni was a few weeks after my wife and me had moved. The floors were dirty despite the fact that we had just moved in. This was due to the chaos of moving and having a 1-year-old. After a full charge I had the X8 Pro Omni scan the four-bedroom home, then immediately run a vacuum and then a mop. It did this without having to take a break to charge. (Just breaks to empty the mop and vacuum, etc.) It had about 30% battery left at the end. That’s a pretty good result.
The Ecovacs X8 Pro Omni is very similar to the Yeedi S24 Plus. (Yeedi, a sub-brand by Ecovacs, has advanced AI features.) However, the Ecovacs model comes with a camera and some advanced AI functions.”bgr-ad-inline-article-standard-display-x”>
