Hyperion Robotics produces 3D-printed concrete foundations

Hyperion Robotics has begun exploring sites in the Midlands, and the North of England for its first UK facility. This will also serve as a headquarters for the company’s northern European operations.

The Helsinki startup produces Eurocode compliant reinforced concrete structures by using 3D-printing technology.

“Establishing our presence in the UK was a natural step for us, as we continue to expand across Europe,” said Fernando De los Rios, chief executive. “With over PS700bn of infrastructure projects planned over the next decade we see a great opportunity to bring our sustainability solutions to the forefront in the UK’s Construction Industry. Our technology reduces emissions and costs, but also makes it easier for our clients to adopt new construction methods.

Hyperion has British involvement already in its leadership: former Keltbray Managing Director John Price is the vice president of operations, while former Kier Managing Director Barry McNicholas serves as an advisor.

Hyperion’s expansion follows a number of projects across Europe where the company has partnered up with prominent names such as Iberdrola and Yorkshire Water with projects ranging from energy plant foundations, to water treatment facilities.

It was reported that it provided ‘printed concrete drawpits’ for Yorkshire Water’s Esholt Sewage Works near Bradford in 2023.
