Roles and Responsibilities.

Minimum Qualifying

  • B.S. degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, or related fields.
  • Strong Python programming skills with an emphasis on software engineering best practice.
  • Proficiency with robotics fundamentals including kinematics and dynamics, control theory and state estimation.
  • Proficiency with version control (Git), testing software, and debugging.
  • Problem solver who thrives within a fast-paced collaborative environment.

Optional Qualifying

  • M.S. Degree in Robotics, Computer Science or a related field.
  • Experience in ROS (Robot Operating System), and/or other robotic middleware.
  • A strong understanding of motion planning algorithms and trajectory generation.
  • Familiarity of industrial robot arms, real-time control frameworks, PLCs or other real-time control systems.
  • Experience in optimizing software for edge-devices.
  • Knowledge on distributed computing architectures.

Pivot Robotics (YCW24) is building AI brains for robot arms in high-mix manufacturing.

Pivot Robots uses off-the shelf robots, vision sensors and recent breakthroughs in foundation models to give industrial robotic arms the ability to adapt. Our first product addresses the dangerous and unpopular task that is grinding metal parts. Our software is currently being deployed on 10+ robotic machines at a large foundry.
