Tesla has expanded over the years its portfolio into many disciplines, from electric vehicles to energy, AI and robotics, and now to a restaurant.
This idea was conceived in 2018 and has now become a reality. It’s not obvious how a food outlet aligns with the Tesla mission. However, it is a fun and unique addition to the Tesla ownership experience. It’s unlikely that this will be a major profit center unless Tesla decides it wants to expand to more locations, and capture profits through charging and food sales.
The Tesla Diner combines nostalgia for 1950s drive-ins with cutting-edge technology, including Supercharger Stations where owners can charge their vehicles while they enjoy a meal or even watch movies on two large screens like in a drive-in theater.
The diner located at 7001 West Santa Monica Boulevard in West Hollywood, CA features a circular, sleek design that screams Retro-Futurism.
A new post confirms that the location has held a soft-launch with Los Angeles First Responders, and a few special guests such as the Tesla Club So-Cal.
Guests were treated to classic American foods like burgers and Shakes, packaged in Cybertruck themed boxes for an extra Tesla flair.
The Tesla Vehicles, Cybercabs and Tesla Optimus were all on display.
Optimus Robot
The appearance of Tesla Optimus, a robot that can serve popcorn and converse with guests was one of the most memorable aspects of the launch. This demo demonstrated the humanoid’s smooth movements and conversational abilities, hinting at its future roles in service industry.
Supercharger Integration
The site has a number V4 Supercharger stands, which allow drivers to charge their vehicles while watching movies on giant screens. Audio is piped into Tesla cars.
Exclusive Merch Visitors can collect limited-edition items such as Tesla Bot action figures in all-black and drinkware with branded designs.
Roller-skating food delivery Rollerskates are used by employees to deliver food to your table or vehicle. This adds a retro feel to the experience and is a unique touch.
The soft opening was an invite-only event, but the general public can now attend starting Monday, July 21st. This will likely be discussed on the next earnings call.
Tesla Club SoCal presented the experience and the interior of the restaurant, which we had previously only seen in external photos.
