Robots could replace humans in your local kebab shop to slice up donated meat. Three outlets of a top chain are trialling “robotic shavers for kebabs”.

If the cyborgs prove a success, they could be introduced at all 143 German Doner Kebab sites across the UK.
The firm’s boss Simon Wallis said of the doner-delivering droids: “They can do the job of a team member.”
He also claimed they could do better than humans, saying: “They shave the meat more consistently and improve productivity.”
Mr Wallis told The Sun the extra costs from the changes to minimum wages and national insurance contributions in the Budget last year meant GDK had to become more efficient.

However, replacing human staff with robots has led to customers and competitors in a pickle.
Jared Thomas, 31, a Kebab fan at GDK in Finchley in North London, said: “Obviously, people shouldn’t be losing their jobs because it.”
The owner of Brockwell Kebab, in South London, also said: “It is not very authentic to use a robotic system.”
