Unitree Robotics founder Wang Xingxing appointed rotating chair of new embodied Intelligence Alliance in Hangzhou (19459000)

Wang Xingxing has assumed a new role in the public eye as the first rotating chairman of the Hangzhou Embodied Intelligence Industry Alliance. According to Hangzhou Daily, the appointment was made during a citywide mobilization conference held on AI innovation on June 4. The new alliance, guided by the city’s Development and Reform Commission (DRC), aims to leverage Hangzhou’s strengths in embodied intelligent to foster a collaborative forum spanning government and industry, academia and research, according the Hangzhou Daily. The report also stated that the group intends to push key technological breakthroughs. Unitree was founded in 2016 by Wang, who briefly worked for DJI. Unitree is now one of China’s top robotics startups. The company’s humanoid robotics became famous after they appeared on the CCTV Spring Festival Gala in early this year. The company raised nine funding rounds, and was valued at RMB8 billion ($1.11billion) after a Series C round of September 2024.[Hangzhou Daily (in Chinese)
