The integration KUKA robots in robotic physiotherapy equipment provides numerous advantages. These include precise motion planning and control, individualized training and monitoring of patient progress. These robotic therapies are superior to many traditional physical therapies for stabilizing limbs.

MIT Engineers are joining the robotic ping pong game with a lightweight, powerful design that returns shots at high speed with precision. The new table-tennis robot is a multijointed arm that is fixed at one end of a table and uses a standard ping pong paddle. The robot uses high-speed cameras to estimate the speed and trajectory and then executes a variety of swing types, such as a loop, drive or chop, in order to hit the ball precisely at the desired location on the ping-pong table.

Pan-flipping involves dynamically repositioning various objects such as eggs, burgers, and meat patties. This shows agility, precision, and the ability of motion control to adapt to different challenges. Our framework allows robots to learn highly-dynamic movements.

Thank you, Haonan

An edible robot made by EPFL scientists leverages a combination of biodegradable fuel and surface tension to zip around the water’s surface, creating a safe–and nutritious–alternative to environmental monitoring devices made from artificial polymers and electronics.

Traditional Quadcopters excel at flight agility and maneuverability, but often have limitations in hovering effectiveness and horizontal field-of-view. Rotating wings inspired by nature offer a wider perspective and improved hovering efficiency but are limited by angular momentum. In this study, QuadRotary is a novel vehicle which combines the strengths of both flight properties through a reconfigurable structure.

I like the idea that a humanoid would use jumping as its primary locomotion method, not because it must but because it is fun.

At the University of Michigan, a new 10,000-gallon water tank [38,000-liter] will help researchers design and build a variety of autonomous undersea systems that could assist robots in mapping lakes and oceans, and conducting inspections of bridges and ships. The tank, funded through the Office of Naval Research (ONR), allows roboticists further test projects related to robot control and behavior.

According to Jason Bundoff of U-M’s Friedman Marine Hydrodynamics Laboratory, “the lore says that this helps jump-start research as each testing tanks is a living repository for all the knowledge gained within it.” “You mix the water from other tanks in order to imbue the newly-founded tank with all that living knowledge gained from the other tanks.”

This Michigan Robotics seminar is presented by DanfeiXu, from Georgia Tech. The topic is “Generative Task and Motion Planning.”

Planning for the long-term is essential to solving complex physical problems. This includes everything from using tools to preparing dinner. Despite recent advances in foundation models that are rich in commonsense, robots still lack the ability to perform the same tasks, especially with learning-based methods. In this talk, I’ll present a body work that aims at transforming Task and Motion Planning, one of the most powerful computational models in robot planning, into a fully-generative model framework. This will enable compositional generalization using a largely-data-driven approach.
