Throwing, a fundamental skill, allows robots to manipulate items in ways that are beyond their reach. We present a control system that combines model-based control and learning for prehensile throwing using legged mobile manipulators. This work is an early demonstration of prehensile throws with quantified accuracy, which contributes to the progress in dynamic whole body manipulation.

Picking in Motion is a brand-new feature of Autopicker 2.0. Autopicker does not remain stationary to pick an item. Instead, it moves towards its next destination as soon as it retrieves a storage bag, completing the selection while on the go. The robot drops the first storage bag at an empty slot near its next pick location, before picking up the next one.
Thank you, Gilmarie.
I’m pretty sure that this isn’t real yet, but it is really shiny.

Kirigami provides unique opportunities for guided morphing through the geometry of the cut. This work presents inflatable crawlers that are created by introducing cut-patterns into heat-sealable fabrics to achieve locomotion when cyclic pneumatic actuators are activated. The kirigami actuators have directional anisotropic properties when inflated. They have higher friction coefficients in the opposite direction to the movement. This allows them to move over surfaces of varying roughness. We enhanced the functionality of inflatable Kirigami actuators further by adding multiple channels and segments in order to create soft robotic prototypes that have versatile locomotion abilities.

This is a pretty gross thing to do, and it’s exactly what you would want a robot doing: dealing municipal solid waste.
