Chinese smartphone maker Vivo has recently launched an independent robots lab that focuses primarily on home robotics. Vivo’s website states that the company is looking to hire a chief scientist in robotics. The person must have outstanding achievements in embodied intelligent or robotics, and be able to lead a team. Hu Baishan, Vivo’s Executive vice president, said yesterday that the company will enter the home robotics sector, but it will not develop hardware for the entire body. Instead, the focus will be on the “brains” (AI) or “eyes” of robots. Hu Baishan revealed that Vivo had plans to enter the humanoid robots sector as early as December 2023.[
