XPeng’s Vision: Merging Driving, Robotics, and Aerial Mobility

XPeng is redefining the future of transportation by developing innovative vehicles that blend driving capabilities with robotics and aerial technology. Their approach aims to revolutionize how people move, combining ground and air travel into a seamless experience.

Insights from Tencent ConTech Conference 2025

During the Tencent ConTech Conference and Tencent Hi Tech Day in December 2025, XPeng’s founder and CEO, He Xiaopeng, outlined the company’s forward-looking strategy. He emphasized the technological kinship between robotics and automotive industries, forecasting that AI-powered car manufacturers will inevitably transition into robotics enterprises. This vision underscores XPeng’s commitment to integrating artificial intelligence across multiple mobility platforms.

Innovations in Personal Aerial Vehicles

He Xiaopeng unveiled two groundbreaking flying vehicle projects that highlight XPeng’s leadership in urban air mobility. The first is a compact personal aircraft designed for short-distance flights, small enough to fit inside a car trunk. This innovative vehicle is currently in assembly-line production and is slated for commercial release in the latter half of 2026. This development could transform last-mile travel by offering a convenient airborne alternative to traditional road transport.

Advanced Tilt-Rotor Aircraft for Urban and Intercity Travel

The second innovation is a tilt-rotor fixed-wing aircraft capable of reaching speeds up to 400 km/h and covering distances as far as 500 km. XPeng envisions this model as a key solution for future urban and intercity air mobility, addressing the growing demand for efficient, low-altitude transportation options in congested metropolitan areas.

Future Outlook: Robotics and Urban Air Mobility Integration

Looking ahead, He Xiaopeng predicts that robots will become integral to daily life within the next decade, while low-altitude aerial vehicles will emerge as a mainstream commuting choice in cities worldwide. XPeng is actively investing in the convergence of automotive, robotics, and flying vehicle technologies to bring this vision to fruition, positioning itself at the forefront of the evolving mobility landscape.

Expanding Horizons in Mobility

With urban populations expected to grow by 2.5 billion by 2050 according to the United Nations, the demand for innovative transportation solutions is more urgent than ever. XPeng’s advancements in flying cars and robotics not only address congestion and environmental concerns but also pave the way for a new era of smart, AI-driven mobility that adapts to the dynamic needs of modern cities.
