Tan Min, UBTECH Chief Brand Officer, shared his opinions on the company’s path towards the real-world deployment of humanoid robots during a roundtable titled “The Rise of Humanoid Robots: From Science Fiction to Reality”. Tan also highlighted the importance embodied intelligence has in advancing this field. Tan acknowledged that current applications are still at an early stage. He said that until artificial general intelligence matures humanoid robotics are best suited for structured environments, such as smart manufacturing. This has become a focal-point of global tech competition.

To speed up real-world adoption, UBTECH combines simulation-based training and real-world data gathering through practical deployment. The Walker S series has successfully completed initial training at auto factories and is making progress with software and algorithm stability in industrial scenarios.

UBTECH announced a landmark in March by deploying dozens Walker S1 robots for the first multi-robot multi-task collaborative session. According to the company, using swarm intelligence the robots worked in harmony within complex settings, such as final assembly line, SPS (the German word for Programmable Logic Controller), instrument zones, quality assurance areas, and doors installation stations.
