AeroVironment has revealed Skyfall, a future mission concept for the next-generation Mars Helicopters that was developed with NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory. This concept will help pave way for a human landing on Mars by allowing autonomous aerial exploration.
This concept is heavily focused upon delivering a rapid, affordable and technically mature solution to expand Mars exploration by 2028. Skyfall will deploy six scout helis on Mars to explore the top landing sites for America’s Martian astronauts. Each helicopter can operate independently while exploring the region. They will beam high-resolution surface imagery and subsurface radar data to Earth for analysis. This will help ensure that crewed vehicles land safely in areas with the most water, ice and other resources.
This concept would be the very first to use “Skyfall Maneuver”, an innovative entry, descent and landing technique that allows the six rotorcraft to deploy from the entry capsule as it descends through the Martian atmosphere. By flying the helicopters down to the Mars surface under their own power, Skyfall would eliminate the necessity for a landing platform-traditionally one of the most expensive, complex, and risky elements of any Mars mission.

The best part of these videos is watching the students’ faces when their robots achieve something.

Inspired from the octopus’s remarkable ability of wrapping and gripping with precision, this research introduces a vacuum driven, origami inspired soft actuator that mimics this versatility through self-folding designs and high bending angle. Its 3D-printable, crease-free structure allows compact, modular robots with enhanced grasping forces. This is ideal for handling objects of different shapes and sizes by using octopus like suction synergy.

ARMstrong Dex, a dual-arm hydraulic robot of human scale developed by the Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute for disaster response. It can perform vertical lifts and handle loads up to 50 kilograms. This is strength that exceeds human capabilities. Disaster environments require agility, speed, and precision. This test evaluated ARMstrong Dex’s ability to throw a water bottle weighing 500 milliliters (0.5 kg) in a target container. The experiment evaluated high-speed coordination and trajectory control as well as endpoint accuracy. These are important attributes for operating in dynamic scenarios.

This is not a robot that looks like a human, but a platform for data acquisition.
This drone has a neat feature that allows the battery to be shifted back and forth in order to compensate for arm movement.

As residential building become taller and more sophisticated, the demand for secure and seamless in-building deliveries continues to increase. Robots such as FlashBot Max have become essential in high-end apartments, modern senior living facilities and other buildings where couriers are unable to reach upper floors. FlashBot Max is a robot that makes 80 to 100 deliveries per day in this elderly care residence. It navigates elevators with ease, notifies residents of its arrival, and returns to its charging station at the end of each delivery.

With the Engineered Arts Roles UI, you can now easily configure a robot so that it behaves the way you desire. We provide a quick overview on how to customize languages, personality, abilities, and knowledge. All of this can be done without any code. You can enable features with simple LLM prompts and drop-down lists.
CARA, unlike most quadrupeds does not use gears or pulleys. Instead, her joints use capstan drives to drive the rope. Capstan drives have several advantages, including zero backlash, high transparency of torque, low inertia and low cost. These qualities make them the ideal speed reducers for robotics.
