It’s no surprise that robotic vacuum manufacturers are now turning their attention to robotic lawnmowers. Ecovacs is a leader in robotic vacuums and has recently unveiled the Ecovacs Goat A3000. Of course, robotic mowers are not just robotic vacuums that have blades at the bottom. Lawnmowers must be able to detect grass, stay within boundaries without physical walls, and have enhanced safety features. Can the Ecovacs A3000 utilize robotic vacuum technology to make it a good choice for outdoor use. I’ve been using it for a while to find out. It has a black-and-white color scheme and a plastic exterior. I thought it looked nice in my backyard. The GOAT A3000 has a few buttons, controls and sensors for navigation on the top. The LiDAR sensor is located in the ball at the top of the mower. It looks futuristic. On the top, you will also find a large emergency stop button and other controls.”bgr-newsletter-signup-form newsletter-signup-form black-bg” readability=”9.2128279883382″> Tech. Entertainment. The GOAT A3000 is easy to set up. The station is set up by unpacking the lawnmower. It can be placed near a power outlet. The lawnmower has a long cord that you can use to reach a far distance. Ecovacs’ setup instructions recommend placing the station on grass or dirt and bolting it into the ground. I placed it along a concrete wall. After a few months of use, I’ve not experienced any problems with that placement. However, I can see why bolting it in place would be more secure. Image source: Christian de Looper, BGRThe GOAT A3000 also has large wheels that can be useful. The large rear wheels can help other robotic lawn mowers avoid getting stuck in gopher holes. A dual blade system is also found on the bottom of the mower, which helps it to mow larger areas. In general, the Ecovacs A3000 GOAT looks and feels good, both when it is stationary and when it is on the move.”wp-block-heading” id=”h-ecovacs-goat-a3000-review-app-and-smart-features”>Ecovacs Goat A3000 review – App and smart featuresThe Ecovacs Goat A3000 uses the same Ecovacs home app as the companyas robot vacuums. This is convenient for those who already own an Ecovacs vacuum. Image source: Christian de Looper, BGRTo connect the GOAT A3000 to the app you must turn it on. Then follow the instructions on the screen to connect. You can begin mapping your lawn after you have added the mower to the account and set the PIN code. This is different than using a robotic vacuum. You can manually control the mower using your phone to map the grassy area. Tell it where to go so that the boundary of the lawn is created. It may take a few moments, but is relatively easy as long as you keep the mower close enough to maintain a Bluetooth connection. You can create a boundary for the first area and then do it for the second. For example, after mapping my backyard I opened the gate to send the mower into the front yard.”is-wp-image-block wp-block-image size-large”> After you have mapped the area, there are a number of useful mowing features available. You can either set the mowing level for each zone or tell the mower to use the automatic setting for all zones. You can set up mowing schedules, mow in a different direction each week and decide how the mower should approach the edges of mapped areas. It did struggle with edges and the mower got stuck on several occasions. It got stuck on one occasion and in its attempt to free itself, the wheels cratered some of the grass it was half-on, leaving a small hole. The other times it got stuck, they weren’t as frustrating but I still had to check the mower.”https://bgr.com/reviews/ecovacs-deebot-x8-pro-omni-review-the-best-robotic-mopping-can-get-for-now/”Ecovacs robotic vacuums are clearly more advanced than robotic lawnmowers. You can access a lot more features for a robotic cleaner than the GOAT A3000. I expect more features to be added over time, but for now the features available are good.”wp-block-heading” id=”h-ecovacs-goat-a3000-review-performance”>Ecovacs GOAT A3000 Review: PerformanceApart from issues with things like the lawn edges and scaling of obstacles, the Ecovacs GOAT A3000 did very well. The lawns it mowed were uniform in length and well-cut, leaving behind a small trail of grass cut. The idea behind a robotic lawnmower, is that it will be used frequently. This means that there won’t be piles of grass cut behind it. My grass was longer the first time I used it. This meant that more grass was cut. It cut evenly and consistently even then. The Goat A3000 is good at navigating obstacles, and it covers the entire lawn, thanks to its dual LiDAR sensors on top. This replaces the camera-only system, and allows for better obstacle avoidance and more thorough mowing. You wouldn’t want to intentionally put your kids or pets in front of the mower, but it did a good job avoiding obstacles and was able to avoid animals with no problem.”is-wp-image-block wp-block-image size-large”>ConclusionsThe Ecovacs A3000 robotic lawnmower is excellent. Its dual LiDAR navigation helps it to be accurate and thorough, while also ensuring it avoids obstacles such as animals. It’s not perfect. It struggled with the rougher terrain at the edges of my yard, but it will cut grass for most people without any problems. It is expensive and if you want to save money, you may want to wait until LiDAR-based robot lawnmowers become more common. The CompetitionThere are many robotic lawnmowers on the market, but the Ecovacs GOAT A3000 has a dual LiDAR for better navigation and obstruction avoidance. I found the GOAT A3000 easy to use, thorough, and that it will beat any robotic lawnmower out there. www.roboticsobserver.com RELATED ARTICLES Best robotic pool cleaners 2025: Expert picks of big, small, and...
