Hong Kong Showcases Innovation at GITEX Global 2030 with Dual Tech Pavilions in Dubai

The Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) is joining forces with the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTP) to present two dedicated Hong Kong Tech Pavilions at GITEX Global 2030, a leading technology expo held from October 13 to 17 in Dubai. This year’s event will spotlight 22 exhibitors from Hong Kong, featuring cutting-edge advancements in artificial intelligence (AI), robotics, Internet of Things (IoT), and green technologies.

Expanding Hong Kong’s Footprint in the Middle East Tech Ecosystem

GITEX Global, celebrating its 45th anniversary, is expected to draw over 200,000 visitors from more than 180 countries, uniting global tech leaders and innovative startups across sectors such as AI, cybersecurity, and smart mobility. Hong Kong’s technology SMEs are increasingly eager to capitalize on the Middle East’s rapidly expanding markets, leveraging the region’s strategic position and investment potential.

Daniel Lam, HKTDC’s Regional Director for the Middle East and Africa, emphasized the region’s growing AI ambitions: “Middle Eastern countries are harnessing their abundant low-cost energy and robust capital resources to accelerate AI development. The Hong Kong Tech Pavilions will serve as a vital bridge, connecting promising Hong Kong innovation and technology enterprises with regional and international partners. This collaboration not only facilitates market expansion but also attracts global investment, positioning Hong Kong as a gateway to China and the broader Asian market.”

Hong Kong’s Strategic Vision for AI and Innovation

In his recent Policy Address, Hong Kong SAR Chief Executive John Lee highlighted the city’s commitment to fostering AI and data science industries, recognizing AI as a pivotal driver of the next wave of scientific and industrial transformation. With its strong foundation in research, capital availability, data resources, and talent, Hong Kong is poised to become a global AI hub.

According to InvestHK’s 2024 startup survey, Hong Kong now hosts a record 4,700 startups, underscoring the vibrancy of its innovation ecosystem. The Hong Kong Tech Pavilions at GITEX 2030 continue a tradition since 2020 of supporting local tech SMEs and startups in connecting with Middle Eastern investors and meeting the region’s AI development needs, while simultaneously promoting Hong Kong’s dynamic startup landscape.

Innovative Exhibitors Highlighting AI and Sustainability

The Hong Kong Tech Pavilions prominently feature AI-driven solutions. For instance, the Hong Kong Environmental Protection Department (Booth H23-A50-04) employs AI technologies to enhance environmental monitoring and planning. Their innovations include the AI-powered Environmental Air Nuisance Investigation Robot Dog and a comprehensive environmental data repository, alongside AI systems for noise and wastewater surveillance.

TradeMonday (Booth H23-A50-04) presents a vertical GenAI SaaS platform that automates retail workflows and analytics, converting data into actionable AI agents that drive profitability. The company benefits from venture capital backing across Hong Kong, Turkey, and the United States.

Chain Technology Development Co. Limited (Booth H23-A50-01) showcases its Digital Twin solution, integrating AI, IoT, and spatial intelligence to address the needs of architecture, engineering, and construction sectors, contributing to the development of smarter, more sustainable urban environments.

Man Yue Electronics Company Limited also participates, offering high-quality electronic components with a strong focus on sustainability and carbon neutrality.

Additional Hong Kong Presence at Expand North Star Pavilion

Alongside the main Hong Kong Tech Pavilions, HKSTP leads another pavilion at Expand North Star in Dubai Harbour from October 12 to 15. This platform features innovative solutions from 10 HKSTP park companies and hosts the Supernova Challenge pitching competition. Hong Kong Polytechnic University will also be present, showcasing its latest technological breakthroughs and entrepreneurial initiatives.

Networking and Investment Opportunities

On October 14, HKTDC and the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office will organize a networking event in Dubai, designed to strengthen ties between Hong Kong exhibitors and Middle Eastern as well as global industry players. Approximately 80 representatives from diverse sectors are expected to participate.

Additionally, HKTDC will facilitate 12 pitching sessions during GITEX 2030, providing a platform for Hong Kong companies to present their innovative solutions to investors, corporate partners, and government agencies.
