Media Minister praises KFSHRC team for world’s first fully robotic heart transplant

Minister of Media Salman Al-Dossary presented the Media Excellence Award for 2024 to the Saudi medical team at King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre in Riyadh, which had performed the first fully robotic heart surgery in the world. The event, which was held in collaboration with Saudi Vision 2030’s Human Capability Development Program, celebrates outstanding media contributions from a variety of fields and national events.

KFSHRC, in a recent release, highlighted that this recognition highlights the exceptional efforts of Saudi medical team led by Dr. Feras Khaliel, Chairman of Cardiac surgery and Deputy Director of the Heart Center of Excellence. Dr. Khaliel’s groundbreaking work represents an important leap forward in global health care innovation, securing the Kingdom’s leadership in advanced medical technology.

This award follows His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed Bin Salman bin Abdulaziz’s reception of the medical team by the Crown Prince and Prime Minster, who expressed pride at this national achievement and reiterated leadership’s commitment to fostering excellence in order to create a more innovative future.

Health Sector Transformation Program.

The historic milestone is in line with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030’s Health Sector Transformation Program. It also aims at elevating the quality of healthcare and strengthening the Kingdom’s position as a leader in medical innovations.
