Report: China to host first embodied intelligent robot games after robot marathon

After last week’s Robot Race in Beijing, the Embodied Intelligence Robot Games in Wuxi will be held in eastern China between April 24 and 26. This event, China’s very first robotic sports competition, will showcase the latest advances in embodied intelligent robotics. It will also include themed talks and a carnival.

Why is it important: The Jiangsu Province event reflects China’s hope to strengthen its position in global robots by integrating sports, industry dialogue, public engagement.

Details : The robot games will test robots’ perception, mobility, endurance and, most importantly, their decision-making, planning and planning skills. According to Chinese media outlet Cailianpress,the focus of the competition segment will be athletic performance and application scenarios. The athletics competition includes sprinting, cross country running, soccer and basketball. The application-based scenarios include tasks such as intelligent grasping, indoor safety, and demonstrations. The same Cailianpress article mentioned that Unitree Robotics will be participating in themed talks with Xiaomi Humanoid Robot and Leju Robotics to discuss key technical bottlenecks for humanoid robots and the challenges of real-world applications.

  • The carnival will feature scenario-based demos, interactive games, as well as other activities to allow the public the opportunity to interact closely with robots and experience the excitement of technology innovation. Li Yang, the organizer of the event, said that the carnival would offer scenarios-based demonstrations and interactive games.
  • The context is Beijing hosted the first humanoid robotic half-marathon on April 19, with 20 teams from Chinese universities and companies participating along with 12,000 human runners. Beijing Humanoid Robot Innovation Center’s Tiangong Robot Ultra won the 21-kilometer race within two hours and forty minutes.

    • The male champion from Ethiopia completed the race in just 62 minutes. The female champion, who is also from Ethiopia, finished the race in only 71 minutes.
