The complex operation was performed by surgeons using an advanced robotic system on an eight-year old child. The young patient was discharged from the hospital in just two weeks. Professor Dieter Broering (executive director of the Organ Transplant Centre of Excellence) led the groundbreaking surgery. He stressed that robotic techniques were traditionally used for adults, but the success of this surgery expands pediatric options. Broering said that redesigning the approach to fit smaller bodies required meticulous planning, ensuring maximum safety during the procedure.
